Un|Pause marks the end of a hiatus driven by persistence, coercion, and love, standing as a testament to art’s power to spark positive change amid life’s twists and turns. The album draws from a broad range of influences, including post-punk, electronic, jazz, progressive rock, and disco, resulting in a sound that is both nostalgic and forward-moving, inviting listeners to think deeply and dance freely. The cover art, featuring a childhood photo, evokes both nostalgia and societal critique, symbolizing the album’s retro sound while commenting on outdated systems. This debut album by married duo Sarah|Nate captures their shared journey through life’s complexities. Both artists bring rich backgrounds to their collaboration: Nate, a seasoned drummer and composer turned producer, and Sarah, who transitioned from the dance music industry and magazine writing to embrace her own artistry. The album explores themes ranging from introspective reflections on loss to playful, campy expressions, mirroring the emotional depth and dissonance emblematic of their shared Pisces star sign and relationship. Un|Pause is the culmination of years spent encouraging each other to unleash their creative potential and heal through music.
